A question for the producers of CSI

WHY? Why have you not encorporated Jenny was a Friend of Mine by The Killers into an Episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation? Not only are The Killers from Las Vegas, but they are one of the hottest things since sliced bread out there right now. The song is also just awesome. Plenty of energy, well executed and just read the lyrics:

We took a walk that night, but it wasn't the same
We had a fight on the promenade out in the rain
She said she loved me, but she had somewhere to go
She couldn't scream while I held her close
I swore I'd never let her go

Tell me what you wanna know
Oh come on, oh come on, oh come on
There ain't no motive for this crime
Jenny was a friend of mine
So come on, oh come on, oh come on

I know my rights, I've been here all day and it's time
For me to go, so let me know if it's alright
I just can't take this, I swear I told you the truth
She couldn't scream while I held her close
I swore I'd never let her go

Tell me what you wanna know
Oh come on, oh come on, oh come on
And then you whisper in my ear
I know what you're doing here
So come on, oh come on, oh come on
There ain't no motive for this crime
Jenny was a friend of mine
Oh come on, oh come on, oh come on

It couldn't be more perfect. I'll be watching and waiting.

Today's sing-a-long song: See above

I'm guessing that the relationship for these things usually goes the other way around when the show is the number one rated television program in the world. So it would be the producers for The Killers (read: Island Records (read: Universal Music Group (read: Vivendi Universal))) who have to do something to get their new band's song featured on CSI. There's obviously a relationship that's been forged already, of course, as U2 (who're also on a label owned by Vivendi Universal) has had its album pimped to death on that show recently.

Reminds me of when NBC was doing corporate-parent SONY a favour and featuring a Green Day song in pretty much every one of their top-rated dramas ... except the West Wing, where it would have been a pretty hard fit, of course.

Very true. I was going to make a plea to the labels, but I confess that since I have left music retail, I have become label-lazy. My bad, your good!

I also remember when NBC was pimping the hell out of The Corrs and Enya.I guess the big question is, who own's CBS? I believe it's Vicom, but I can't remember who own's them.

CBS is indeed a member of the Viacom company. Viacom isn't owned by any other media parent, although they do own Columbia Records. There's a pretty good breakdown here.

Also: "own's"? Did you suffer some sort of seizure?

No, but if I had, wouldn't you feel like an ass.

The apostrophe-s ending denotes possession.

The word was "own"

It makes perfect sense to me. ;)
